When people think of documentary photos, they usually think of straight, honest photographs of people, places, activities, etc, that are captured truthfully by the photographer as the scenes/activities unfolding, without intervention, without alternation from the photographer. Most of the time, the viewers immediately give their trust to the photographer just like the readers usually believe in the words of the narrator without questioning the credibility or validity of the narrator or the creator. If there were no witness of the truth at the moment the photographer took the photograph, then it would be hard to question the nature of the photograph.
